What will you do?

A key financial partner to the business, the Cost Accountant manages and analyzes product costs, tracks variances, and delivers actionable insights to optimize profitability. It ensures compliance with policies and regulations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to monitor cost drivers and recommend improvements. The role champions initiatives to improve efficiency and drive cost savings—placing a strong emphasis on digitalization, automation, and the standardization of costing and reporting processes to support strategic growth, while remaining adaptable to evolving business needs.

Maintain and analyze standard product costs - including materials, labor, and overhead - and manage product groups, overhead groups, and profit centre codes within the ERP system Update standard material costs annually and perform cost calculations for new materials introduced during the fiscal year. Calculate, monitor, and report manufacturing and sales variances, investigating deviations from standard costs and budget. Prepare and deliver monthly cost and margin analysis, utilization reports, over/under absorption, and account reconciliations, to support management decision-making and month-end closing processes. Assist with budgeting and forecasting by preparing detailed plans by product, cost, and revenue, collaborating with relevant departments to ensure accurate financial projections and support strategic planning. Collaborate with cross functional teams to monitor cost drivers and recommend improvements; provide accurate costing data to support cost control and reduction initiatives. Analyze profitability by product, customer, or segment as required. Control, monitor and prepare monthly journal entries for work in process, unbilled contracts and warranty; calculate warranty accrual rate for eligible products and sales annually. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant financial regulations. Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to cost accounting inquiries. Participate in global projects and initiatives related to process improvement, ERP system, and cost methodology standardization. Lead and support initiatives to identify, calculate, and track cost savings and efficiency improvements related to product costing and manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on the digitalization and automation of processes, reporting, and operational workflows. Perform other related duties as assigned.

What will you need to succeed?

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fields Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing company is strongly preferred Experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and ERP (SAP) Knowledge of accounting principles like GAAP/ IFRS/ ASP Advanced Excel skills Strong leadership and team management skills

Assets

CPA is preferred Experience in electronics or product manufacturing companies Experience with digitalization and automation of accounting/ costing activities Knowledge of using Power BI Experience working in complex global environments
