The agency assures that individuals receiving licenses meet the educational requirements established by law and that licensed professionals maintain the highest standard while providing services to the public. To maintain an active Board while fulfilling all legal requirements set by Louisiana law over 12 meeting days each calendar year. To conduct all agency business professionally and efficiently in the issuance of licenses, student testing, and necessary inspections as established by state law. To collect all revenue from license fees or fines as established under state law, keeping accurate records thereof, and standing for audits and legislative compliance each fiscal year. To maintain license issuance and renewal daily. To provide for students testing at the Board office on a regular scheduled basis, with at least 8 testing days per month. To provide for salon and school inspections at least twice annually for each such license issued. To maintain an adequate staff of well-trained employees under civil service rules and regulations to deliver courteous service to the public. About the position: A cosmetology inspector is a professional responsible for ensuring that salons, spas, and other establishments providing beauty and grooming services comply with state and federal regulations . These regulations are primarily focused on public health and safety. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Generally, this is educational and instructional work of an independent and professional nature in the promotion and implementation of the programmatic activities of the agency as it relates to the enforcement of the rules and regulations as governed by the Louisiana Cosmetology Act and the Louisiana Administrative Code- Title 46-Part XXXL As an inspector of the board, you are required to travel within an assigned area of the state to inform, educate, consult, advise, counsel and supervise the ongoing activities of the industry. The industry dictates and requires minimum requirements and guidelines to participate as a legitimate licensed entity, to provide: 1. Accredited Cosmetology Schools; 2. Cosmetology Salons; 3. Esthetic Salons; 4. Manicuring Salons; 5. Special permits for Alternative Hair Design. + Inspects premises for sanitation, housekeeping, and general construction and upkeep of premises + Prepares written reports, summary sheets, and records on all inspections. Recommends corrective action to noted deficiencies and violations. Appears before the board to represent and testify for cited violations. + Reviews plans and specifications for all construction and equipment to open and operate schools of instruction and salons that are regulated by the board Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
