Position Description:

We are looking for a hydrogeologist to join the Water Management Team at the Cortez operation. This team is leading an extensive dewatering effort and this hydrogeologist will assist by overseeing well drilling and construction, performing hydrogeology testing, and communicating dewatering status to other departments.

Responsibilities:
Assist with planning, design, budget, and oversight of hydrogeology drilling & constructionPerform hydrogeologic testing on drill holes and completed wells – including pump, injection, slug, packer, and airlift testingAssist with the interpretation of hydrogeologic testingCommunicate with Mine Planning Staff – short and long range – to accomplish drilling goalsProvide hydrogeological expertise and guidance to Mine Operations and Mine Planning StaffInstall, operate, and maintain hydrogeology monitoring equipmentCollect and analyze monitoring dataManage/supervise drillers and subcontractorsUnconventional hours may be necessary due to drilling activitiesUpdate and maintain hydrogeologic databaseThe above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned but are not necessarily all-inclusive.Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, civil engineering (or similar) requiredMinimum 2 years of experience in the mining industry preferredAdvanced technical communications, personal interaction and presentations skills requiredDemonstrated ability to operate independently and in small multi-disciplinary teams requiredFamiliarity with drill rigs and installation of hydrogeology instrumentation preferredExcellent computer skills including MS Office, LeapFrog, Deswik, Vulcan, GIS preferredExcellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
