Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Geologist I at our Cortez operations. As part of the MRM team, the successful candidate will be results centric adding to our already ambitious yet exciting working environment supporting our mining operations. The ideal candidate will possess a background using a combination of acQuire, Deswik and Leapfrog mining software.

Responsibilities: 

Designs, develops, and maintains 3D grade control models Design of De-Risk and Grade Control drilling programs, track and report weekly/monthly intercepts and progress, assist with yearly budgetsSupervise and report out spends to drill budgets and forecastsCompile and validate drilling data; including assay results, downhole survey, geology logging and QAQC and other data collected during drillingSupport RC and Core drilling activities through drill and drill station inspections, validating TD’sGeological logging of core and RC chips; update of grade control modelingGeological mapping (either digital or on paper depending on location) and sampling of active benches; in all weather conditionsCompile mapping and assay information in 3-D software and correlate it with existing modelsSupervise sample collection for accuracy and consistency, timely delivery to labPrepare weekly and monthly reports as required; assist with weekly and monthly reconciliation for model performance and impacts to grade 

 

Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science degree in Geology or related field requiredExcellent safety record requiredAbility to work within a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills requiredPrevious mine operations experience preferredPrevious Leapfrog modeling experience preferredProficiency in Excel preferredFamiliarity with Deswik, Vulcan, LeapFrog and Acquire software an advantage preferred
