MISSION STATEMENT:

Under the direction of the Corps Officer(s), the Corps Program Director will assume a variety of responsibilities geared towards providing relevant and meaningful programs and activities for children, youth and adults in the Corps. This position will reflect a significant emphasis on program and relational ministry which will include program planning and anticipated outcomes.
This position is outcome based, meaning that over an agreed period of time, memorable and visible results of increased youth and young adult attendance and involvement will be expected. This will include recruiting and getting people from the community connected with the Corps ministry programs. This can only be accomplished with & through the support of Corps and Local Officers sharing the vision of ministry.
Must maintain strict standards in compliance with Protect the Mission policies of The Salvation Army. Uniformed Salvationist in good standing, wearing full uniform on Sundays Knowledge of The Salvation Army beliefs and practices and be in agreement and live in accordance to TSA and Biblical standards. Possess a thorough knowledge of The Salvation Army youth work and/or USA Salvation Army programs Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a current and valid Arizona Driver's License. Must be able to drive the 15-passenger bus (by the end of the probation period) Demonstrated experience in working with other youth workers in either a team or supervisory role. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with a wide age range of people. Demonstrated ability in program planning and. management. Bi-lingual in the Spanish/English required Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various levels of staff, volunteers, and congregants.RESPONSIBILITIES
Outreach
Network and connect the community with Corps programs (i.e. Sunday School; outreach events; VBS; Friday night outreach; YPL) Visit families associated with youth involved in youth programs. Plan, organize or coordinate once a quarter, activities to link parents with the Corps. (This could include Sunday morning youth meeting, family night, parenting classes, picnics, etc.) Coordinate VBS and/or summer day camp. Recruit Corps volunteers to assist with programs as needed. Be visionary in developing programs that will meet the needs of the community Transport to and from Corps programs and events. Be fully involved in the annual Christmas Kettle program and Angel Tree.Discipleship
Ensure that there is a regular discipleship program for the teens. Ensure a regular discipleship program for children ages 6-12 such as Junior Soldier meetings. Coordinate and conduct weekly Sunday school openings and teach n class when required. Be responsible for a young adult ministry group at the Corps.Leadership
Recruit leaders and either coordinate or personally train leaders in youth culture, development assets and program ideas. Oversee Child Safety records and organizing ongoing teaching and training of volunteers so they are properly trained in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policy. Plan bi-monthly leadership meetings with Corps leaders drafting the agenda and chairing the meeting, keeping minutes of all such meetings Organize at least 30 YPL activities per year (ideally recruiting and training leaders to do this.) Provide leadership ns required to various youth programs. Develop a volunteering and mentoring program with adults that will work directly with the youth. Coordinate recruitment or recruit for all territorial and divisional camps and other special events. Prepare statistics and submit to Corps Officer by the 5th of each month. Prepare and submit all youth reports to DHQ in a timely manner. Serve on the Corps Council, Advisory Council and other committees as assigned, Provide a one page quarterly narrative progress report to Corps Officers.Music
Coordinate & provide leadership as necessary to corps' music groups, including both youth & adult groups. Plan and lead rehearsals, performances, and special musical events.Special Projects
Organize seasonal programs and distributions as directed within the scope of the corps' responsibility, including but not limited to School Supplies, Thanksgiving and Christmas food, and toys.Other duties as assigned as they relate to the position of Corps Program Assistant.
