Corporate Tax Manager
Description We are looking for an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to oversee and manage the preparation, filing, and compliance of federal, state, and international tax returns. Based in Houston, Texas, this role is pivotal in ensuring accurate tax provisions, monitoring regulatory changes, and maintaining compliance with tax laws. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in tax processes and mitigate risks. Responsibilities: • Supervise the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with deadlines. • Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provisions, including related financial statement disclosures. • Oversee the tax compliance team in managing income and transactional tax returns. • Evaluate customer contracts to identify and minimize potential tax exposure. • Develop and implement strategies to enhance tax procedures and streamline processes. • Manage external advisors in preparing international tax returns, provisions, and studies for domestic and international purposes. • Establish and maintain effective internal controls over all tax-related processes. • Lead responses and schedule preparations during income tax and sales/use tax audits. • Monitor and interpret changes in tax legislation, advising leadership on implications and opportunities. • Mentor and guide tax team members to improve their effectiveness and engagement. Requirements • At least 7 years of relevant experience in public accounting or corporate tax management, including 2 years in a leadership role. • Strong knowledge of corporate tax compliance, U.S. federal, state, and local tax reporting requirements. • Proficiency in preparing annual income tax provisions and consolidated tax returns. • Experience with international tax compliance and provisions. • Advanced understanding of accounting for taxes and deferred tax processes. • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. • Proficient in tax compliance software, such as OneSource, and standard office tools like Word, Excel, and Outlook. • CPA certification and a master’s degree in accounting or a related field are preferred.
