D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Corporate Stormwater Compliance Specialist. The right candidate will engage in the management and implementation of national policy, practice, and procedure with respect to compliance with the Clean Water Act, and specifically, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) permitting program. Support the National Stormwater Manager with NPDES related permitting and enforcement concerns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Oversee the implementation and management of the DHI Stormwater Management Strategy (SMS)Collaborate with Corporate Real Estate Counsel or other Corporate Manager in the recurrent review and assessment of region and division practices, procedures, administrative protocols and filings, policies, education and daily operations to ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirementsCommunicate with region and division personnel to provide stormwater compliance information and to ensure compliance with company stormwater policies and objectives, as well as applicable federal, state, local regulations and lawsGuide and assist regions and divisions in implementing improvements to the company’s stormwater processes to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local stormwater and environmental regulations and lawsOversee the implementation and management of ongoing region and division stormwater training programsExamine stormwater inspections and assist with the communication to regulatory agencies, providing appropriate responses to same as necessary to ensure compliance with federal, state and local stormwater regulations and lawsMaintain up to date knowledge of stormwater regulations and laws, industry standards and practices, BMPs, understanding and practical knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements to ensure complianceConducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the companyAbility to travel overnightRegular and reliable attendanceFulfill Continuing Education requirements to maintain certifications and knowledge in changes to environmental regulations and lawsAdditional duties as assignedD.R. Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
Three or more years related experience
Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
Possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Possess at least one of the following national stormwater certifications (or the ability to obtain at least one of the following certifications within one year of beginning employment) – Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector (CESSWI), Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality (CPSWQ), and Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC)
Ability to acquire state level certifications as necessary
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
