What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Function Compliance, the Corporate Function Compliance (CFC) Officer is responsible for the execution of Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) oversight activities over a portfolio of corporate function (CF) units globally. As a subject matter expert for regulatory requirements, the CFC Officer will work closely with assigned CF units to analyze regulatory changes, conduct compliance risk assessments, manage compliance deficiencies, and manage the RCM library (including controls). The CFC Officer will also provide advisory on regulatory requirements and controls related to capital markets operations from an Oversight Function perspective.

How you’ll succeed
Regulatory Analysis – Stay abreast of changes in relevant laws, regulations and industry standards applicable to financial institutions, analyze the impact of regulatory changes on the organization and translate requirements to plain language.
Risk Analysis – Perform risk assessment of new regulatory requirements and provide inputs on regulatory compliance risks posed by changing business activities in accordance with current CIBC risk methodology.
Deficiency Management – Proactively manage the identification, remediation and reporting of regulatory compliance deficiencies and control testing gaps within assigned corporate function units.
Collaboration – Provide compliance advisory services to business units within the team’s purview to ensure processes and mitigations are in place to address regulatory compliance risk and in accordance with regulatory requirements, regulator expectations and CIBC risk appetite.
Relationship Building – Develop and maintain relationships with Oversight Functions, Line of Business leaders, 2nd and 3rd line of defense (LOD) groups to ensure effective oversight processes are in place to effectively reduce the Bank’s exposure to regulatory compliance risk within acceptable levels.
Who you are
You can demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in regulatory compliance management activities such as monitoring regulatory changes, identifying key requirements, performing risk assessment and internal compliance reporting.
You have extensive working experience in the analysis, interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements applicable to federally regulated financial spanning across multiple business lines and functional groups, especially in capital markets operations. You have a solid understanding of financial products and financial market environment.
You can demonstrate knowledge of Internal Control Framework, Risk Framework and regulatory environments applicable to financial institutions.
