Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Core Faculty member at the Pasadena campus teaches a maximum of 24 units per academic year and in conjunction with the Department Chair, oversees the scheduling of the Department of Education programs, training for Adjunct Faculty members, identifies potential Adjunct Faculty, and assists the Department Chair with the management of all Department of Education programs on the Pasadena Campus. This position requires professionalism, diplomacy, discretion and integrity in all areas of responsibility.
The position represents the Department of Education while cultivating and maintaining positive working relationships with school districts, community partners, and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) representatives. The responsibilities of this position require a commitment to promote excellence in the Pacific Oaks teacher education programs.
We are looking for qualified applicants who hold a minimum of a master’s degree in their specific field (doctorate or doctorate in process preferred) and experience working in pre-K12 education contexts. A desirable applicant will also be able to demonstrate a commitment to Pacific Oaks core values in their professional experiences, scholarship, and research interests.
This full-time position is based on the Pasadena, CA campus, requires regular in-person attendance, and reports directly to the Department Chair of Education.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Teaching & Advising
Teach a maximum of 24 units for the academic year.
Advise Department of Education students.
Meet with the Department of Education students for orientations, advisement, and program support as needed.
Faculty & Program Support
Serve on relevant faculty committees.
Participation in orientation information sessions, program planning, and faculty trainings.
Provide administrative support to the Multiple Subject and Education Specialist programs.
In collaboration with the Department Chair and faculty, identify qualified adjunct faculty for all Department of Education programs.
Mentor new adjunct faculty hires.
Review course evaluations and discuss outcomes with adjunct faculty each semester.
Curriculum & Program Development
Collaborate with core faculty on curriculum and program development in the Department of Education.
Assist in maintaining the fidelity to the curriculum in each course and participate in on-going program improvement through the collection and analysis of relevant data.
Collaborate with the Department Chair of Education to develop long-term plans and guide the growth of Education programs at the Pasadena campus.
Technology & Fieldwork Oversight
Monitor the use of Canvas by adjunct faculty and students. In collaboration with other faculty, support the fieldwork and student teaching placements for all teacher education candidates.
Meetings & Administrative Duties
Attend Department of Education meetings and other required meetings in varying formats, including Zoom and in-person on campus, as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge
Knowledge in current pedagogy, research, and “best practices” in Teacher Education, including Multiple Subject, Education Specialist, and Early Childhood Education programs.
Knowledge of teaching in online formats.
Skills
Excellent communication, organizational, writing, editorial, and project management skills.
Abilities
Commitment to social justice, cultural competency, and promoting inclusive learning environments.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with students, administration, faculty, adjunct faculty, professional consultants and representatives from all levels of management.
Ability to analyze the on-going assessment of credential programs to assist with maintaining full compliance with CCTC regulations, including responsibility for supporting candidates and collaborating on the Teacher Performance Assessment (TPA).
EDUCATION:
Required Education:
Minimum of a master’s in education or related field required.
Applicants must hold one of the following valid California credentials issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC):
Education Specialist Instruction Credential (Mild/Moderate or Extensive Support Needs),
Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, or
Administrative Services Credential
Preferred Education:
PhD or EdD in Education or related fields from an accredited college or university preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Required Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in K-12 schools.
Preferred Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years teaching or administrative experience in higher education.
Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with technology such as, MS Office (Word and Excel), AI tools for education, Zoom, and Canvas.
Experience in supervision of fieldwork and clinical practice for teacher candidates .
Experience in Bilingual Authorization Programs.
TRAVEL: Up to 10% of total time (some travel may be necessary to off-site cohorts supported by the Pasadena campus).

DECISION MAKING:
The position is governed by the policies of Pacific Oaks, along with established procedures for the department. Independent judgment is required in the supervision of personnel as well as in the carrying out of the department's strategic goals and budget management.
CONTACT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Routine exchange or presentation of information. Responsible for demonstrating professionalism and leadership in resolving conflicts with students and employees. Recommends alternative approaches to solve problems and conflicts.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not require the management of budgets, but it is required to follow Pacific Oaks policies for purchasing and budget approvals.
Compensation & Benefits
This opportunity is budgeted at $66,560.00-73,170.00 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
