Core and Coil Assembler - 2nd & 3rd Shift

**Position Overview**
The Core and Coil Assembler is a hands-on mechanical assembly position responsible for the internal assembly of transformer cores and coils. This role involves working with heavy components, operating overhead cranes, hydraulic presses, and crimping tools to assemble, connect, and prepare electrical units for production. Team members in this position will develop skills across key assembly areas such as Coil Landing, Core & Coil Assembly, and Internal Wiring, with opportunities to expand into Booster Assembly and Rack & Cable Assembly.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Receive and follow work assignments, instructions, drawings, bills of materials, and established manufacturing procedures. Communicate and coordinate with supervisors and team leads.
+ Assemble and set up transformer cores.
+ Land coils onto cores using cranes and specialized equipment.
+ Install, adjust, and remove core clamps.
+ Operate hydraulic pressing equipment to secure coils and yokes.
+ Lock units into place and perform top yoke assembly.
+ Conduct electronic documentation of non-conformances.
+ Complete assembly for pre-lead ratio and inspection.
+ Work on medium, large, or high-voltage product lines as assigned.
+ Assemble pressboard cylinders, end packs, foot bars, and phase barriers.
+ Perform crimping, insulating, brazing, and wiring of electrical connections.
+ Build booster units, cleat and lead assemblies, and associated wiring as required.
+ Assemble bus bars, racks, and sub-assemblies using various brazing and fastening methods.
+ Install and assemble de-energized tap changer switches.
+ Stack and align shunt steel for internal assemblies.
+ Perform minor equipment repairs and routine maintenance; submit work orders for additional repairs.
+ Carry out contamination control procedures such as vacuuming, magnetic seep checks, and general cleaning.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in line with 5S and company safety standards.
+ Occasionally perform repair work on oiled components inside or outside tanks.
+ Assist with training new team members as needed.
**Skills & Knowledge**
+ Proficient with hand tools and specialized equipment such as brazing tools, crimpers, grinders, hydraulic presses, overhead cranes, jacks, and saws.
+ Familiarity with materials including wood, copper, tape, pressboard, insulating materials, bus bars, fasteners, adhesives, and various conductors.
+ Ability to work at heights up to 18 feet, in confined spaces, and around sharp-edged steel.
+ Strong attention to detail to meet engineering and quality standards.
+ Comfortable working in both team and independent settings.
**Education & Experience**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent required.
+ Prior mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or related experience preferred.

+ Reports To: Production Supervisor

**Work Environment & Physical Demands**
+ Manufacturing plant, shop-floor environment.
+ Requires standing for long periods, frequent walking, occasional climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and carrying.
+ Some tasks may involve working in confined spaces or at elevated heights.
**Key Interactions**
+ Collaborates with production supervisors, quality teams, planning, and engineering groups (mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing).
**Pay Details:** $29.00 per hour
