Experience with data governance, project coordination, or data literacy initiatives is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that demonstrates the required knowledge and abilities will be considered.

Must be a current Sam Houston State University employee in order to be considered for this position.  Nature & Purpose of Position Plans and administers all activities supporting the university’s data management, governance, and literacy initiatives while also coordinating cross-functional projects that advance the Data Analytics & Decision Support department’s strategic goals. Working closely with the Chief Data Management Officer and other institutional stakeholders, and ensures that data-related efforts are effectively organized, tracked, and delivered. Primary Responsibilities Collaborates with data owners and stewards to identify data sources and document metadata. Supports the creation and maintenance of institutional data definitions and procedural documentation. Assists in the development and implementation of data governance and data literacy initiatives. Coordinates with cross-functional teams to track timelines, facilitate progress, and ensure timely project delivery. Serves as a project liaison between technical teams, functional offices, and campus stakeholders. Facilitates meetings and workshops to gather input, elicit ideas, and clarify project requirements. Tracks and reports on progress of department initiatives and provides timely updates to leadership. Contributes to storytelling and communication efforts to improve campus-wide data understanding. Supports data quality assurance through audits and validation processes. Assesses data literacy across the institution and contributes to training and support content. Acts as a liaison between technical teams and business units, helping to translate business needs into data-driven solutions and actionable insights. Documents data definitions and processes, coordinating data quality efforts, and supporting training and literacy initiatives. Organizes and tracks departmental projects, facilitates meetings, manages timelines and deliverables, and maintains communication among stakeholders to ensure alignment and accountability. Contributes to a culture of data-informed decision-making and supports the infrastructure and processes that make institutional data accurate, accessible, and impactful.
