This job is a full-time, benefited, exempt position in the Academic Affairs Division that reports to the Director of Distance Education. This position is based out of our Lawrenceville Campus and some traveling to the Alpharetta location may be required.
The person hired for this position cannot be currently enrolled in credit courses here at the college and cannot enroll in any future courses due to the nature of this position.
Schedule : 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday coverage as needed. Some staggered or extended hours may be required to support faculty during evenings or non-standard times.
Salary : Targeted salary is $54,080 per year.
Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 11213):
Bachelor’s degree in a related field *and* Two (2) years related work experience • Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis
Preferred Qualifications:
Must possess excellent knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet, E-mail, Microsoft Office applications and LMS (Learning Management Systems). Self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills; online teaching experience a plus; knowledge of internet and multi-media technologies; skilled in the operation of computers and job related software programs; ability to work under pressure in an empathetic and professional manner; ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, and maintain effective relationships with multi-level personnel and customers; proficiency in Blackboard/learning management systems; and ability to exhibit professional customer service skills. Knowledge of external platforms is a plus.
Job Description Summary:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the implementation, coordination, and supervision of the College’s TCSG Connect courses and external platforms. This position would serve as the POC (Point of Contact) providing technical support to users of the college’s learning management systems and resolving conflicts with online learning. This includes responding to student and faculty phone calls, e-mails, online chat, answering tickets in the queue, etc., regarding ongoing maintenance issues such as login, course development, and other duties assigned. In those instances where advanced tech support is required, this person will coordinate with the Director of Distance Education, external parties, and/or state authority (GVTC) to resolve the issue. Additionally, this person facilitates the creation, organization, and implementation of online learning information sessions for students and professional staff development programs/activities related to distance education, technology, educational technology, instructional computing and learning resources. The person in this position conducts needs assessments designed to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats relative to service excellence; develops and implements evaluations systems to ensure continuous quality improvement; analyzes data, formulates assigned strategic and operational plans, and establishes priorities for implementation; assists with the establishment of goals, objectives, and priorities for distance education, technology, educational technology, instructional computing, and learning resources; assists with establishing and supervising processes and expectations for faculty who teach in online environments; and performs other duties as assigned. May be cross-trained in various assignments related to the operation of the department. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Percentage of Time:
Coordinate with Dean’s, Program Directors, instructors, TCSG and other TCSG colleges for TCSG Connect courses.
+ Coordinate with other colleges that may need us to host courses for their students
+ Coordinate with other colleges for courses that we may need them to host
+ Report any requested courses (home or host) to TCSG
+ Coordinate with Academic Affairs to ensure schedule reflects TCSG Connect courses
+ Coordinate meetings to assist with Grade Appeals/ student complaints for TCSG Connect
+ Coordinate Training with TCSG and TCSG Connect instructors
+ Assist with Course Design for TCSG Connect courses and understand TCSG guidelines for TCSG Connect courses
+ Train TCSG Connect faculty on guidelines for TCSG Connect course layout and strategies for teaching online.
+ Ensure faculty credentials and assessment results are available
+ Send emails to students reminders and TCSG Connect information
+ Send emails to TCSG Connect instructors (host and home) for deadline reminders, processes, etc.
+ Coordinate with Academic Affairs with TCSG Connect processes and updates
+ Update One Drive for TCSG Connect processes and information
+ Cross registration in Banner Web
+ Input all text information for TCSG Connect course in Banner Web
+ Work with IT if students or Faculty are unable to access TCSG Connect
+ Coordinate with bookstore to make sure that they will have the required textbook/course material for our students.
+ Coordinate with other colleges on Textbooks their bookstore will need for their students to be successful in TCSG Connect courses we are hosting.
+ Work with Student Affairs and Deans to find out if there is a need for TCSG Connect courses.
+ Create Courses in Banner
+ Ensure courses move over to Blackboard
+ Troubleshoot errors on Ellucian

Work with TCSG on Badge delivery for students (Duties in this are anticipated depending on the requirements of March Training and may change or be updated. There could be more duties that may require more than 10% of their time.)
+ Email students when they have completed an item/course/program that qualifies for a badge
+ Update the system when students have received badges/notifications
+ Update the system with new badges
+ Assist students with logging or accessing the system to receive their badge

Assists with Learning Management System (Blackboard and other external platforms) course creation, course content, and technical issues
+ Assists with creating new master and organization shells, recycle and archive courses, push content into Master and term courses for TCSG Connect
+ Troubleshoots Learning Management System (BLACKBOARD and other platforms) technical issues by providing first-line BLACKBOARD technical support and user assistance
+ Coordinates more technical concerns with the Distance Education Director and GVTC webmaster and follows up until technical support issues are resolved
+ Creates a collaborative work environment that builds consensus among the faculty on educational issues, adapts to changing faculty needs, and d evelops innovative problem-solving techniques to help when unusual problems arise and standard methods do not apply
+ Enters data with minimal errors according to prescribed format
+ Learns new external platform integrations and setup to assist Program Directors with setting up Master courses.
+ Assists instructors with setting up their external platform when connecting the master course is not plausible.
Maintains confidentiality and security of information and materials according to established policies and procedures

Assists students and faculty with Blackboard or computer problems
+ Troubleshoots basic computer and software problems.
+ Provides technical support for students, faculty and staff through phone, email, queue, online chat, and walk-in.
+ Assists with establishing and supervising processes and expectations for faculty who teach in online environments.

Assists with creation, organization, and implementation of professional development programs/activities related to distance education technology, educational technology, instructional computing, and learning resources
+ Creates and updates information, handouts, webpages, training guides, video tutorials in various multimedia formats (print, web, video) in addition to developing training courses
+ Utilizes Microsoft Office applications proficiently, especially Excel
+ Conducts professional development trainings related to Blackboard or other related software

Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences and by reading professional literature in the related technical field
