General coordination of all clinical aspects of the Advocate Sherman Hospital Paramedic Training Program in coordination with EMS System Coordinator and Program Instructor. Coordinates and collaborates with the EMS System Coordinator of the Greater Elgin Area EMS System on EMS system continuing education and Training Center activities. The greater Elgin Area EMS System consists of a total of 19 EMS agencies and approximately 800 personnel. In addition, will take on other EMS System responsibilities, including inspections, quality improvement activities and community events, as identified.
Major Responsibilities
Coordinates Clinical aspects of the Paramedic Training Program in accordance with accreditation and National EMS Standards.Coordinates of Clinical Site locations. Manages the Clinical/Field tracking platformReporting student clinical progress to students EMS System Coordinator, Program Director, and Paramedic Program Instructor. Review and validate student clinical time experience.Develop Preceptor education per paramedic program accreditation and EMS national standards. Collaborates with Preceptors on student progress.Collaborates with EMS System Coordinator, Program Director, and program Instructor on all activities related to Paramedic Program.Instructs Paramedic Program classes and continuing education classes as needed.Assists EMS System Coordinator with oversight of EMS system continuing education.Works with EMS System Coordinator to develop annual EMS system continuing education schedule. Oversight of scheduling EMS Educators for CE classes. Assists with developing continuing education presentations.Assists with oversight of AHA Training Center responsibilities under Advocate Sherman Hospital, including assisting with training center activities, interacting with AHA instructors and data activities as needed.Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required:
E.D. RN (1 year minimum) or EMT-P (3 years minimum).State of Illinois EMS Lead Instructor PreferredEducation Required:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.Knowledge Skills & Abilities Required:
Educational Teaching ExperienceExcellent communication skills.Ability to interpret and apply EMS Law.Ability to work independently.Current Illinois Registered Nurse or EMT-P Healthcare BLS RecognitionAttends approved seminars to keep abreast of new developments and techniques in the field of EMS.Ability to travel around Metropolitan Chicago independently. Occasionally work weekends as well as various shifts as necessary.Ability to enter and exit prehospital vehicles. Ability to perform medium lifting.
