**Description**
Aveda Product Development supports the innovation efforts for the brand and ensures Aveda’s long-term leadership in key categories for calendarized (short-term) and non-calendarized (medium term) initiatives, providing direction for the development of quality products that support the Brand Strategy, ensuring products are launched on time and with high quality.
Product Development is responsible for the conceptualization, initiation, development, evaluation and follow-through of all new product launches and reformulations including, but not limited to:
+ Collaboration with Global Marketing (including Regions) and R&D on product development strategy, including concept development
+ Competitive and category knowledge for assigned domains
+ Management of the product and package submission and approval process, including maintenance of a QA standard library with R&D and Packaging
+ Claims development and validation, including legal, regulatory and safety claims approval and clinical/sensory methodology and execution, for all intended uses and markets.
+ Creation of Fact Sheets and Product Profiles to summarize product performance, key ingredients, final claims and usage guidelines (based on test results).
Position Purpose: Responsible for research & analysis to support the Product Development Process.

Description of Duties:
Essential Duties:
+ Support ELC Innovation Efforts for Aveda's Leadership Categories, Hair Color & Hair Texture, participating in research, cross-functional team meetings and presentations.
+ Contribute to the development of new product concepts and product reformulations, in line with Aveda strategy and following Product Development guidelines.
+ Under the guidance of Product Development leadership, work toward becoming a specialist within the field to assume full responsibility of the Assistant Manager position.
+ Responsible for competitive Brand Research for the team as assigned. Compile and manage competitor comparison charts, provide detailed analysis, track monthly competitive launches, maintain monthly new launch report and purchase competitive products.
+ Responsible for planning and organization of team meetings, product testing and product evaluation efforts to support the product development process.
+ Responsible for receiving products, monitoring, logging and tracking product submissions. Maintain a neat, orderly and efficient standards/submission system.
+ Assist in supporting regional, consumer and innovations focuses as assigned and share findings with cross-functional team.
Other Duties:
+ Serve as a brand ambassador, both internally & externally
+ Administrative tasks (i.e.: procuring general supplies and equipment, budget management, issuing meeting notes, maintaining team calendar, making travel arrangements)
+ Other duties as assigned or required.
**Qualifications**
Education:
+ Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent business experience).
Experience:
+ 2 years of Product Development, Marketing, R&D or related experience.
+ Experience in the Beauty or Personal Care Industry and Hair Color strongly preferred.
