Job Description: Maintenance Storeroom Clerk

Position Summary
The Maintenance Storeroom Clerk is responsible for the professional management of the facility’s MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) inventory. This role ensures that all spare parts, tools, and consumables are accurately tracked in the JDE (JD Edwards) system, organized according to 5S standards, and ready for deployment to minimize production downtime. The Clerk serves as the gatekeeper of high-value assets and the primary support for the maintenance technical team.
Core Responsibilities
Inventory Control: Execute weekly cycle counts to ensure physical stock matches JDE records; investigate and reconcile all discrepancies.Receiving & Inspection: Receive all incoming MRO shipments, verify packing slips against purchase orders, and inspect high-value spares for shipping damage.Kitting & Staging: Review upcoming scheduled work orders to "kit" (gather) all required parts 24–48 hours in advance, ensuring technicians have zero "search time."Data Integrity: Maintain the JDE system by updating bin locations, minimum/maximum stock levels, and part descriptions.Work Order Management: Issue parts to specific maintenance work orders to ensure accurate inventories are maintained.Vendor Relations: Coordinate with suppliers for core returns, warranty claims on failed parts, and restocking of vendor-managed inventory (VMI).Organization (5S): Maintain a clean, labeled, and safe storeroom environment.Safety Compliance: Manage and restock all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure 100% availability for plant personnel.Required Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Logistics or Supply Chain preferred.Experience: 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing storeroom, warehouse, or parts department.Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP software (specifically JD Edwards/JDE or similar systems like SAP) and Microsoft Excel.Equipment: Ability to operate a forklift (certification provided by Smurfit Westrock).Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain active in a manufacturing environment for the duration of the shift.Key Competencies
Attention to Detail: Precision in matching long alphanumeric part numbers.Sense of Urgency: Understanding that a missing part directly impacts plant OEE.Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Coordinator, Facility Leadership, and Outside Vendors. Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
