Co-Op Engineer

Purpose

As a Zurn Elkay CO-OP, you will focus on building foundational skills in product engineering through hands-on experience and close mentorship. You will contribute as a member of project teams, assist with documentation and testing, and gain exposure to cross-functional collaboration in a structured and supportive environment.

Essential job functions

• Support product development initiatives including New Product Development (NPD), Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE), and R&D projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation including engineering specifications, 3D CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) under supervision. 
• Support product testing and validation efforts, including prototyping, lab testing, and field evaluations.
• Participate in root cause analysis and basic design investigations to help resolve product issues and improve performance.
• Help manage project deliverables by completing assigned tasks in alignment with the Product Development Process.
• Contribute to updates and improvements of existing products through design modifications and documentation revisions.
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment while following established procedures and contributing to team goals.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Pursuing B.S. / M.S. in Mechanical Engineering

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Behaviors

• Ability to manage assigned tasks across multiple projects with guidance.
• Demonstrate ability to follow action plans and contribute to project goals.
• Effective team player with a collaborative mindset in cross-functional environments.
• Basic knowledge in 3D CAD design tools; able to create basic models and drawings.
• Strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced R&D and product sustaining environment.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and product development processes.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and team interaction.
• Willingness to take direction and apply feedback constructively.
