The Cook Supervisor is a critical member of our Community Child Care Center of Palatine Township team, planning, purchasing, preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks for up to 83 children and adults every day. The Cook Supervisor also has responsibility for dishwashing, light kitchen maintenance, and supervising other kitchen staff, all to help ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and safely every day.
Candidate qualifications:
At least a high school diploma or equivalent. At least three years of professional cooking experience A valid Food Sanitation Certification or will obtain within three months of hire. Skilled at making purchases within a set budget. Collaborate effectively and enjoy working as part of a team. Ability to drive and access to a personal vehicle required.Job responsibilities:
Prepares and cooks meals and snacks. Sets out dishes, serves food in the manner designated (family style, single serving, etc.) and delivers food to assigned eating area(s), such as classrooms, living units, dining room, etc. Supervises the collection and cleaning or collects and cleans dishes, ensuring that dishes are washed according to health and sanitation standards. Purchases all groceries and kitchen supplies for assigned meals and snacks, keeping purchases within budget. Oversees deliveries and stores groceries and kitchen supplies, including ensuring safe temperature of delivered food. Maintains health and sanitation standards for the kitchen and storage areas. Plans and posts menus in advance, in consultation with parents, assigned staff members and/or dietitian.Job details:
