QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or GED required Must have a minimum of 2 years experience managing a kitchen and preparing meals Must possess or obtain a Food Handlers Management card within 30 days of employment Ability to incorporate time management skills and be able to work independently Be organized and detail oriented. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be 21 years or older with a valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record Must be able to pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety e-learning Must be motivated and a self starter. Working knowledge of kitchen appliances and equipment Ability to work and conduct business in a professional manner. Working knowledge kitchen management safety protocols Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, shop for and prepare meals for youth, senior and Corps/Church programs as requested using nutritional guidelines given by general guidelines for nutrition. Keep all kitchen supplies purchased, replenished and organized. Ability to conduct business as a professional and present yourself as a clean, neat and professional employee Lead and work with volunteers to prepare meals timely. Must be punctual and present meals on time with attention to detail Keep statistics for all meal programs. Keep kitchen, equipment & dishes clean, tidy and organized at all times. Work with health inspector when necessary. Keep walk in Refrigerator and Freezer clean and organized Launder towels and table clothes as necessary Remain confidential regarding employment and client information Must learn, be aware of, implement and observe all “Protecting the Mission” policies Attend assigned staff meetings. Other related duties as assigned by the Corps Officers as it relates to the position.
