Job Title: Assembly Technician
Job Description

As an Assembly Technician, you will provide technical and skilled support to the Final Assembly Production Engineering team. Your expertise will be vital in reviewing designs, supporting equipment buyoffs, installations, and commissioning, ensuring reliable plant equipment and control systems.

ResponsibilitiesReview equipment specifications and design, and identify improvements.Conduct vendor buyoffs to confirm equipment functions.Install equipment and verify safety, quality, and productivity.Investigate modification requirements, implement modifications, and conduct trials.Lower costs and decrease project time by confirming safety, quality, and productivity at vendor sites prior to installation.Facilitate the kanban process and oversee vendor installations.Improve equipment quality and productivity through adjustments during vehicle trials.Confirm quality results using secondary methods such as torque checks and vacuum profiles.Install, set up, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley program controllers.Provide training to maintenance members on newly implemented equipment.Share subject matter expertise with local NAMC maintenance and production members.Travel up to 50% at times, including international trips to Japan, Canada, and Mexico.Essential SkillsStrong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi) - minimum 2 years.Comprehensive knowledge of PLCs - minimum 2 years.Comprehensive knowledge of electrical circuits and industrial controls - minimum 2 years.Technical degree or completion of a trade school program (EET or Industrial Maintenance Technology) and/or equivalent work experience.Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings.Ability to travel up to 50% at times, including international travel.Ability to work up to 30% overtime when required.Physical ability to lift and carry up to 40lbs occasionally.Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching on varying surfaces.Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery.Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.Good vision and hand-eye coordination for detailed repairs.Ability to work in various environments, including hot, cold, or confined spaces.Additional Skills & Qualifications2+ years of industrial maintenance experience.Knowledge of industrial robot programming and teaching.Knowledge of AGVs/AMRs programming and setup.Knowledge of safety scanners and programming.Knowledge of various industrial controls networking, including EthernetIP, FLNet, ProfiNet, etc.Experience in automotive manufacturing.Work Environment

This role is part of the implementation arm of engineering, ensuring all equipment meets high standards and specifications. The positions are project-based, lasting between 9-18 months, with subsequent projects available at designated NAMC locations. Travel typically involves 12 days out at peak times. Steel toe boots are required for onsite work, which involves hands-on tasks and interaction with engineering and plant maintenance teams. The work environment is dynamic, requiring adaptability to different conditions and flexibility in schedules.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
