Position Summary

The Controls Team Lead role for Gas & Chemical Systems (GCS) is focused on leading a team of engineers and technicians that comprehensively owns, maintains, supports, and improves Gas and Chemical Industrial Control Systems at Samsung Austin sites. The Team Lead is responsible for leading engineers in reviewing vendor design packages, engineering support systems, and coordinating the startup and commissioning of newly installed equipment.

Here's What You'll be Responsible For:


System & Controls Operations

Control Systems team leader will lead and direct manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers & technicians focused on Controls, Networking, and Industrial Systems.Provide technical expertise and ownership for industrial control systems, safety and quality standards, and improvements for those systems. Engineer will interact with operations teams, maintenance teams, construction teams, and equipment vendors to sustain and maintain equipment.Effective communication and coordination with internal and external customers to provide technical support, electrical issue resolution, and collaboration for improved safety, quality, and system reliability.

New Equipment Startup

Evaluate future scenario planning including infrastructure budget and schedule forecasting, utilization and capacity data analysis, and reporting.Coordinate with International vendors and Korean HQ to ensure equipment meet GCS requirements for quality, reliability, safety and production.

Process Improvement

Act as the ""Visionary"" for GCS industrial systems, networking and controls. Understand the current state of GCS control systems and help determine the path forward for future improvement.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's What You'll Bring to Samsung:​

Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial engineering, or related technical field.Minimum of 7+ year’s direct operations experience related to industrial control systems and networks.Demonstrated experience leading a technical teamHigh proficiency with troubleshooting and programing PLCs and HMIsSemiconductor, Oil & Gas, Chemical or Pharmaceutical industry experience is highly desired with an emphasis on safety and hazardous process materials.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Experience managing an engineering team including goal setting, performance management, mentoring, and recruiting.Familiarity with operation, maintenance, and design of industrial controls, networks and systems.The candidate must be familiar with analyzing trends in process and equipment systems related to flow rates, pressures, and consumption.Familiarity with control system troubleshooting, with a strong electrical and mechanical aptitude. Strong knowledge of industrial process controls and field instrumentation.Experience specifying, designing, programming and maintaining control systems for high volume, high availability industrial manufacturing.Understanding of operational impacts and risk in control and automation systems environments.Direct experience participating in the design and construction phases of the building lifecycle.Ability to work overtime / on non-scheduled days as required.

The current base salary range for this role is between $94,260 and $147,275  Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
