What you'll be doingUse modern model-based design tools and control theory to develop embedded closed-loop control systems for electro-mechanical devices including pumps, motors, mixing valves, and a variety of sensors such as pressure, temperature, weight, and conductivityDevelop logic diagrams and thresholds for alarm conditionsWrite requirements, design descriptions, and verification testsPerform evaluations and verification tests to prove designs and requirementsDevelop and communicate schedules, risks, and dependenciesCoordinate development tasks with a teamWork with an existing team to setup and configure rapid-prototyping hardware, software, and interfaces to create prototype software/hardware in the loop development and simulation environmentsPerform the activities associated with systems engineering of one or more products in different stages of the product lifecycle from new product development to post-market surveillanceUnderstand clinical and user needs and apply them to product realizationUse knowledge of technology, process, and/or therapy domains to drive solutions and product design realization from a systems perspectiveInitiate, develop, and lead feasibility by crafting design concepts and research methodologies that best meet both current and future customer / business needs for a product or process domain areaResolve systems-related technical issues by applying problem-solving tools such as cause and effect diagrams, Pareto charts, etc.Propose and drive solutions to technical problems that are ambiguous and diverse in scope

What you'll bringBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, Controls, Systems, Software or other related technical/engineering field3+ years of industry work experienceExperience designing and developing modern control system in embedded devicesExperience in component controls or systems using MATLAB model-based design tools – primarily Simulink, and StateflowDevelopment of physics-based simulations of plant models using Simulink and StateflowKnowledge of control theory including stability, root-locus, frequency response, state space, and analysis of digital control systems of non-linear systemsMust possess sound knowledge of systems engineering and related areas such as electro-mechanical and software engineeringPrior experience in electromechanical system development, preferably medical devices or other highly regulated products such as military hardwareDemonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skillsSuccess in working with multi-functional, global teamsProficiency in written and oral communicationExcellent interpersonal and influencing skills

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $88,000 - $121,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
