Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to program machine controllers, ensuring they meet customer specifications while integrating safety considerations and maintaining operational efficiency. This role involves using existing designs where possible to minimize engineering time.
Responsibilities
+ Program machine controllers to meet customer specifications, incorporating safety and efficiency considerations.
+ Design component layouts that meet specifications for pneumatics, hydraulics, coolant, and lubrication.
+ Review control designs with Mechanical Project Engineers and Coordinators before the build phase.
+ Obtain quotations for electrical control enclosures and push button stations during control design submission.
+ Evaluate design capabilities, supply accurate information, and support documentation to ensure timely and specification-compliant designs.
+ Collaborate with shop personnel in the build, startup, debug, and run-off of machines.
+ Provide support for Service and Training personnel during machine startup in customer plants.
+ Ensure machine safety according to US and Canadian standards.
+ Commission machines on the floor.
+ Work with existing controls engineers to create standards for junior team members.
Essential Skills
+ Design experience in circuit design, including pneumatic, hydraulic, or fluid systems, with proficiency in E-Plan.
+ Experience with Fanuc robots.
+ PLC Programming experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley.
+ Programming machine tools from the ground up.
+ Proficiency in programming Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
+ Additional experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming is a plus.
Work Environment
This company is operating as a Tier 1 supplier to major automotive companies.
The engineering team consists of eight members, including other controls engineers and mechanical engineers.
The average workweek is 45 hours, with overtime compensated for hours worked beyond 40.
Traveling is optional, and those who choose to travel receive a 15% pay increase. The company culture emphasizes work-life balance, with opportunities to work on exciting R&D projects and multi-million-dollar machines.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

This is a fully onsite position in Lansing,MI.
