Description Controller - Real Estate A high-performing organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and optimize its accounting and financial operations. This critical position will support the organization’s growth by enhancing accounting systems, improving financial workflows, and ensuring accurate corporate financial reporting. The Controller will play a key role in overseeing cash management, assessing team structures, and driving process improvements. Key Responsibilities: + Corporate Financial Ownership: Take full ownership of corporate financials, ensuring accurate and timely reporting and resolving legacy accounting inconsistencies. + Cash Management & Treasury: Manage complex banking, lending structures, and property-level accounts to optimize cash allocations while balancing safety, liquidity, and returns. + Accounting Process Optimization: Conduct a review of accounting workflows, general ledger structures, and allocation methodologies to enhance efficiency and alignment with business needs. + System and Software Oversight: Assess the effectiveness of accounting systems (e.g., MRI, Avid, ADP, Juniper Square) and recommend improvements as necessary. + Internal Controls: Identify gaps in internal controls, implement process enhancements, and maintain a high standard of accuracy. + Stakeholder Collaboration: Build relationships with external partners (e.g., auditors, banks, insurance brokers) and cross-department teams to align efforts and provide support for financial reporting needs. + Reporting Excellence: Develop and refine monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures and ensure reporting accuracy for internal stakeholders, investors, and lenders. + Strategic Planning and Execution: Create a long-term roadmap for financial system improvements, process optimization, and structural enhancements tied to company growth goals. + Resource Management: Assess talent gaps, recommend coaching or hiring strategies, and explore automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workflows. Requirements + Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline required + 7+ years of accounting experience including 4+ in a supervisory capacity + Real Estate industry experience strongly preferred + CPA/MBA a plus + Experience with real estate software like Yardi or MRI preferred + Strong people management - company has a great culture Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
