Description Controller – Venture Capital Palo Alto, CA | Hybrid $150–180k base + Bonus + Carry Potential Jennifer Fukumae is partnering established and growing venture capital firm based in Palo Alto is seeking a Controller to lead and build out its internal finance function. With over $500M in assets under management across four active funds and a fifth fund on the horizon, this is a pivotal role as the firm prepares for its next phase of growth. About the Role: This is a hands-on leadership position for a finance professional ready to take ownership of the firm’s financial operations. Reporting directly to the Founding Partner, the Controller will serve as the sole internal finance lead, managing relationships with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, and limited partners. This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and is excited about working closely with firm leadership to refine systems, scale infrastructure, and prepare for additional fundraising. Requirements Key Responsibilities: + Oversee all fund and management company accounting + Manage audit and tax processes with external providers + Maintain and improve reporting to LPs, including capital calls and distributions + Monitor cash flow and coordinate capital activity across entities + Build and streamline internal financial controls and processes + Prepare financial reports and dashboards for internal and LP use + Assist with fund modeling, valuations, and fundraising support + Act as a strategic financial partner to the Founder Ideal Candidate: + 5–10+ years of accounting/finance experience, with significant exposure to venture capital or private equity + Deep understanding of fund accounting, GAAP, and partnership structures + Experience working with fund admins, auditors, and tax advisors + Proactive, polished, and confident in a fast-paced, founder-driven environment + Long-term interest in scaling into a CFO role + CPA preferred; VC or fund experience required Why This Role: + Direct exposure to a high-caliber founder and investment team + High-growth firm with another fund launch planned next year + Influence over financial infrastructure and operations + Strong opportunity for career progression into a CFO track + Collaborative, mission-driven culture with a clear investment thesis Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
