The Controller will lead the company’s accounting function and directly manage a team of five accountants, providing both strategic oversight and hands‑on support. This role oversees all major accounting operations, including general ledger management, month‑ and year‑end close, financial reporting, and internal controls. It also plays a key part in mentoring and developing the team, maintaining consistent accounting practices, and supporting leadership with financial insights and decision‑making.
The company offers a laid‑back culture with hybrid flexibility, allowing employees to work from home up to three days per week. Job Duties:
Oversee general ledger activities and end-to-end accounting operations, including billing, receivables, and fixed asset accountingPerform job cost accounting functions, with exposure to construction-related accounting environmentsLead accounts receivable efforts to drive timely collections, support sufficient working capital, and prepare periodic cash flow statements to provide leadership visibility into liquidityDirect accounts payable operations, ensuring accurate entry, processing, and timely settlement of vendor obligationsComplete bank account reconciliations and prepare recurring cash position and cash flow analysesManage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles to ensure deadlines are met with accuracyPrepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations as part of ongoing close activitiesProduce and deliver recurring financial reporting packages for executive leadership and governance bodiesCoordinate and oversee multi-state property tax compliance and filing requirementsPartner with external CPA firms to support annual audits and financial statement reviewsOversee payroll processing for both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and complianceProvide financial modeling and analysis to support contract reviews and investment decisionsLead the annual budgeting cycle in collaboration with management and prepare ongoing variance analyses against planServe as the primary point of contact for banking partners and ensure all required financial covenants and reporting are completed accurately and on scheduleSupport special projects and ad hoc financial initiatives as requested by leadershipEssential Skills
