About the Company
Our client, a well‑established organization located in Westbrook, Maine, is seeking a highly motivated Controller to serve as the right-hand partner to the CFO. This is a high-impact role supporting a company with multiple business units, each with unique financial and operational needs. The Controller will help unify financial processes, strengthen reporting, and drive strategic insights across the organization.
Position Overview
The Controller will be responsible for a blend of technical accounting and FP&A work. This role is ideal for someone with strong financial leadership experience who can oversee diverse business operations while partnering closely with the CFO on strategy, forecasting, and process improvement.
You’ll play a hands-on role in accounting operations while also contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis across all business units.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Reporting
+ Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
+ Ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements
+ Oversee general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries
+ Improve and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
+ Support annual audit activities and external auditor relationships
+ Consolidate financial reporting across multiple business units
FP&A & Strategic Support
+ Partner with the CFO on budgeting and forecasting for each business unit
+ Build and maintain financial models and scenario analyses
+ Analyze financial performance and highlight opportunities or risks
+ Prepare presentations and insights for the CFO and leadership teams
+ Support evaluation of new initiatives, capital expenditures, and cost optimization across business units
Leadership & Collaboration
+ Act as a key strategic advisor and right hand to the CFO
+ Mentor and guide accounting staff
+ Work cross-functionally with leaders across all business units
+ Help drive alignment in processes, reporting, and financial strategy
Qualifications
+ CPA strongly preferred
+ Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s a plus)
+ 5–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
+ Strong foundation in US GAAP
+ Proven experience in FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams
+ Experience supporting multiple locations, divisions, or business units is a plus

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
