Controller
Job Description
The Financial Controller will oversee all day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities. This leader will ensure accuracy, compliance, continuous improvement of financial processes, and provide strategic insights to executive leadership, the CFO, and private equity stakeholders. The role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented finance professional comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple divisions and locations.Prepare and review financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reporting packages.Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.Support accounting and financial integration activities related to mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence support and post-acquisition integration.Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles.Provide detailed variance analyses and strategic recommendations.Communicate risks and opportunities to senior management.Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors and PE stakeholders.Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory audit readiness in a private-equity-backed environment.Assist with the development and maintenance of scalable internal controls and financial policies aligned with PE best practices.Support inventory management, job costing, and ad hoc analysis in support of the sales team and project managers.Oversee AR and AP processes and manage the cash flow of the business.Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and system improvements.Contribute to system upgrades and automation consistent with the mandates of PE sponsors.Partner with leadership to improve financial visibility, discipline, and accountability across a growing multi-location business.Drive initiatives related to private equity ownership, including system enhancements, reporting standardization, and margin improvement efforts.Supervise and develop accounting team members.Collaborate closely with the CFO, private equity partners, and cross-functional leaders.Serve as the day-to-day leader of the accounting function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations across the organization.Establish, document, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support scalability and private equity ownership requirements.Act as a primary finance partner to the CFO, supporting strategic decision-making, financial planning, and execution of company objectives.Lead change management within the accounting function related to system upgrades, process improvements, and organizational growth.Essential Skills
Strong knowledge of GAAP and GAAP reporting.Familiarity and fluency with technology.Management experience.Strategic and process-oriented finance skills.Proficiency in financial reporting, accounting, forecasting, and budgeting.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.CPA preferred but not required.2+ years of experience in a Controller position.5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience (distribution or multi-location experience preferred).Experience in a private-equity-backed environment strongly preferred.Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel capabilities.Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.Work Environment
The workday begins between 8 AM and 8:30 AM. The team comprises two Accounts Payable professionals, one Accounts Receivable professional, and one senior financial accountant.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
