We are seeking a dedicated Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations while supporting higher-level financial responsibilities typically associated with a controller. This role involves managing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate job costing, providing financial insights to project managers, and strengthening internal processes as the company scales.
ResponsibilitiesOversee daily accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), payroll review, and general ledger maintenance.Prepare and review monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Manage bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and cash flow tracking.Maintain accurate job costing and work closely with project managers to track budgets, labor, materials, and change orders.Support project billing, progress invoicing, and retention tracking.Analyze project profitability and provide financial insights to leadership.Strengthen internal controls, accounting workflows, and documentation.Assist in implementing or optimizing accounting systems and reporting tools.Support year-end audit preparation and coordinate with external accountants.Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.Provide financial reporting and KPI dashboards to support operational decision-making.Serve as a key point of contact for financial questions across the organization.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.5-10 years of accounting experience.Proven track record of performing controller tasks.Experience in construction accounting.Strong understanding of job costing in industrial services or manufacturing.Experience with WIP schedules and project-based accounting.Proficiency with construction accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, or QuickBooks Contractor.Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with multiple active projects.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner with field teams, leadership, and project managers.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility and desire to teach others.Experience with payroll processes including tax filings in multiple states.Live by the company's core values.Work EnvironmentThis position operates in an in-office setting from Monday to Friday. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.67/hr.
