Controller
Our client, a leading Canadian distributor is seeking a Controller to lead the finance group through a period of growth and expansion. The role oversees all financial operations, providing timely financial reporting and analysis to help drive financial performance across the organization. The role plays a critical part in preparing financial statements, supporting strategic planning and ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards and working with executives on various growth initiatives. 

Key responsibilities include: Manage the financial reporting and operations for Canada including month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and oversight over all financial reporting activities. Provide insights that support decision-making, margin improvement and revenue growth. Oversee and optimize the company's foreign exchange management and make recommendations to protect margins, improve cost of goods and maximize profitability. Develop and maintain financial models to support revenue planning, inventory strategies and long-term business forecasting.  Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting cycles, ensuring alignment with company goals and U.S. parent company expectations. Ensure proper financial control systems are in place to manage risk. Lead and coach the finance team in functional areas including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Credit. Monitor and analyze gross profit performance, identifying trends, variances and opportunities to improve margins through pricing, costing, product mix and operational efficiencies. The successful candidate has: A CPA designation and 5+ years leading staff in a fast-paced growth company, preferably within a multi-entity or multinational organization. High developed people skills and ability to build relationships and positively influence various stakeholders. Strong knowledge of GAAP, cross-border financial reporting requirements and consolidation processes for reporting to a U.S. parent company. Experience in managing budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial modeling to support business planning and strategic decision making.  Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally supporting sales, operations, HR and executive leadership with financial insights and recommendations.  Previous experience in managing FOREX and strategy to protect margins. Demonstrated leadership ability with experience mentoring and managing a finance team. Demonstrated ability to prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements with a high degree of accuracy on a timely basis. Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving business and reporting requirements. Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance requirements, audit processes and risk management best practices. Strong analytical abilities and ability to get deep into the weeds in addition to leading higher level planning, strategy and new projects. High level Excel skills along with working experience and comfort with ERP systems. Previous experience in inventory reporting and controls. Ability to "take charge" and lead in a fast-paced, growth oriented company. Willingness to travel occasionally to the U.S, parent company or other locations. Compensation and benefits: The discussed salary range is between $110,000 to $120,000. Comprehensive benefits package including retirement program.
