Job Title: ControllerJob Description

We are seeking a results-driven individual to lead all aspects of our company's financial management. This senior leadership position is responsible for ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting while guiding fiscal strategy to support growth and operational excellence. The role requires close collaboration with the COO and CEO to provide financial insight, strengthen internal controls, and drive initiatives that improve profitability, cash flow, and overall organizational performance. This position reports to the President and is located onsite every day in North Haven, CT.

ResponsibilitiesDirect and manage all day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Maintain and enforce proper internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance.Oversee the year-end audit and coordinate with external CPAs and tax professionals.Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure operational liquidity and support growth initiatives.Manage credit and collections policies to minimize bad debt and optimize working capital.Oversee vendor payment terms and accounts payable strategy to balance supplier relationships and cash preservation.Lead the development of the annual budget and periodic reforecasts.Partner with operations leadership to analyze financial performance by department, product category, and business unit.Provide variance analysis and actionable recommendations to improve margin and control costs.Serve as a key advisor to the COO and CEO in evaluating business opportunities, capital investments, and expansion projects.Support M&A due diligence and integration activities as needed.Analyze pricing models, profitability by customer and product line, and return on key investments.Evaluate and improve accounting systems and technology to increase accuracy, speed, and reporting capabilities.Implement and refine reporting dashboards for leadership visibility on financial KPIs.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior finance leadership role.Strong understanding of GAAP, cash flow management, and working capital strategies.Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial leaders.Proven track record of partnering with senior leadership on strategic and operational decisions.Additional Skills & QualificationsCPA or MBA strongly preferred.Experience in distribution, construction supply, real estate, or similar industries highly preferred.Work Environment

The role requires working onsite every day in North Haven, CT, during standard office hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The position oversees a team of three direct reports and involves significant collaboration with senior leadership. The company is in a growth phase, offering opportunities to drive impactful financial initiatives.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
