Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations for two schools in the Summit, New Jersey area. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in managing accounting processes, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with financial standards. Responsibilities: • Manage all accounting functions for two school locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. • Oversee month-end processes, including budget entries and audit result submissions to the organization's site. • Supervise a team consisting of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll staff to ensure smooth operations. • Prepare and analyze financial reports to support decision-making and organizational goals. • Collaborate with leadership to provide insights on budgeting and financial strategy. • Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure proper documentation. • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and payroll. • Respond to inquiries and provide support during audits and other financial reviews. • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks and spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel to streamline processes. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or financial management. • Proficiency in using QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel for financial operations. • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, preferably within public schools. • Experience supervising staff and managing team operations. • Ability to handle month-end processes and prepare detailed financial reports. • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. • Familiarity with pension plans and benefits administration is a plus. • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with staff and leadership.
