Description
A boutique, family-owned winery is seeking a Controller to oversee all aspects of financial operations and provide strategic financial leadership. This role is responsible for ensuring strong internal controls, accurate financial reporting, and effective inventory costing in partnership with production. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where confidentiality and accuracy are key.
What You’ll Do
+ Lead the preparation of timely, accurate monthly financial statements.
+ Review and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages in full compliance with GAAP.
+ Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to guide business decisions.
+ Consolidate financial results across multiple entities.
+ Oversee account reconciliations and ensure accuracy across all ledgers.
+ Manage select California and TTB compliance reporting, and coordinate with outside consultants as needed.
+ Supervise, mentor, and inspire a small accounting team.
+ Manage banking relationships, reporting, and compliance requirements.
+ Implement and refine processes to strengthen internal controls.
+ Interpret and analyze complex financial data to provide insights and recommendations for improved profitability.
+ Direct annual financial statement reviews and coordinate tax preparation.
+ Take ownership of special projects that support the winery’s growth and efficiency.
Requirements
What You Bring
+ 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience; winery or manufacturing experience a plus.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
+ Proficiency with ERP preferred.
+ Advanced knowledge of GAAP and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
+ Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. and work at a computer for extended periods.
+ Willingness to work occasional overtime during peak periods.
