We're looking for a dedicated Financial Controller to join our Houston based heavy construction industry client. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional who can manage our accounting operations and financial reporting. You'll be a key member of our team, providing financial leadership and ensuring our financial statements are accurate and compliant.
Responsibilities đź’Ľ
+ Oversee all accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and cost accounting.
+ Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
+ Prepare and publish timely financial statements and provide analysis to senior management.
+ Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
+ Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and liaise with external auditors.
+ Manage and mentor a team of up to four accounting professionals.
+ Provide financial guidance to support strategic business decisions.
+ Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills 🛠️
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university.
+ A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in an accounting or finance role.
+ Proven experience in a company with less than $100 million in gross revenue.
+ Strong expertise in GL Accounting and Reporting from record to report.
+ Demonstrated supervisory experience managing a team of up to four people.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial regulations.
+ Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications âś…
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
+ Prior public accounting experience.
+ Experience in the heavy construction industry.
