Description
We are looking for a dedicated Controller to oversee financial and accounting operations for a dynamic hospitality group based in New York, New York. This role includes managing financial processes across multiple restaurant business units, while maintaining compliance and driving operational efficiencies. The ideal candidate thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is ready to take ownership of accounting functions at both the corporate and individual business levels.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for multiple entities.
• Collaborate with operations and ownership teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and perform detailed financial analyses.
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls, financial procedures, and operational efficiencies.
• Manage accounting operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Oversee the use of Restaurant365 and other accounting systems to streamline financial processes.
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and banking partners to meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Handle intercompany transactions and consolidate financial data across entities.
• Monitor inventory, labor costs, and other key metrics to support operational decision-making.
• Prepare and file sales tax submissions and ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of accounting or finance experience, with a minimum of 3 years in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
• Proficiency in Restaurant365 software is required.
• Deep understanding of hospitality-specific accounting practices, including inventory management, labor tracking, and tip reporting.
• Ability to work independently and manage all accounting functions except payroll.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks or other accounting tools is a plus.
