Crystal Lake Country Club is in search of a self-directed and experienced Controller to oversee all financial, accounting, and human resources activities of the Club. The successful candidate will be responsible for budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. This position is responsible for the entire accounting function and ensures adequate controls and procedures are in place to safeguard assets and the completeness/accuracy of financial statements.  Other responsibilities include the training and supervision of the Assistant Accounting Manager in their daily work to ensure the department provides accurate and timely financial information for the club’s management.  Key areas within human resources areas of responsibility include policy and procedure compliance and ongoing employee benefits administration.

DUTIES OR FUNCTIONS:

Financial statement preparation and timely issuance of results to GM and owner Board of Directors. Preparation and update to the annual Operating and Capital Budget. Reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts to the general ledger including Fixed Asset accounts and reconciliations to subsidiary ledgers. Knowledge of 1099 and 8027 requirements, alcohol regulations as related to record keeping, liquor tax, Sales and Use Tax procedures and form preparation and business license administration. Supervise Assistant Accounting Manager in all aspects of payroll, general cashier, accounts payable and club accounts receivable. Responsible for timely issuance of member billing/statement invoice processing and purchase order control procedures. Responsible for cash management procedures including coding, consolidated cash deposit procedures. Partner with Club department heads in reviewing monthly financial results and annual operating Budget. Communicate regularly with GM to ensure operating opportunities are realized and any significant issues surface. Assist in all other projects as requested by the General Manager. Responsible for completing the annual audit and appropriate tax reporting requirements. Handles all IT, Comcast, computers, internet activities (along with GM) Handles all HR activities along with GM Handles all health insurance, dental vision along with GM Helps prepare BOD meeting with financial statements, membership reporting, senior list along with GM Tackles daily member issues with statements, questions, emails, etc. Facilitates all invoice tracking, Chicago title, payouts for renovations Performs bi-weekly payroll, set up of new payroll system Helps prepare clubs annual prepaid letter, dues increase, assessment, holiday fund, etc

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills Flexible to work varying schedules

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in various job functions in accounting. Prior supervisory experience in accounting and/or a mastery of all the functions which this position supervises.

 

EDUCATION:                    

Minimum Associate Degree in Accounting with Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting preferred. Five years’ experience in hotel or country club accounting.

 

COMPENSATION: $70,000-$90,000
