Description
Our client is looking for an experienced Controller with a CPA to oversee the financial operations of insurance-related entities along with several other investments. This role is based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and requires a hands-on approach to managing accounting processes, ensuring compliance, and mentoring team members. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a collaborative mindset to contribute to the success of our organization.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as a co-controller for insurance-related entities within ensuring accurate financial management.
• Oversee account reconciliation and manage the preparation and posting of journal entries.
• Develop and analyze financial reports to provide actionable insights into company performance.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and filings, including income, estate, and payroll taxes.
• Participate in estate planning initiatives for the family.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.
• Collaborate across departments to optimize financial processes and enhance operational efficiency.
• Mentor and support accounting staff, fostering growth and development.
• Utilize accounting software, such as Sage 300, to maintain accurate and organized financial records.
Requirements
•Bachelors in accounting, finance, or a related field, with 5 plus years of experience in accounting or financial management (experience in the insurance industry is a plus).
• Demonstrated expertise in account reconciliation and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in presenting complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring high levels of accuracy.
• Familiarity with Sage 300 accounting software or willingness to develop proficiency.
• Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively within teams.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
