Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead and manage our accounting team in Dallas, Texas. This critical role involves overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to provide strategic insights to support decision-making and business growth.
Responsibilities:
• Provide detailed financial updates and reports to senior management, enabling informed decision-making and operational improvements.
• Develop and enforce financial controls, guidelines, and policies to ensure consistent and accurate financial practices.
• Establish benchmarks for financial performance and create monitoring systems for budgets and expenditures.
• Implement and maintain accounting procedures aligned with national and local legal standards while staying informed about changes in legislation.
• Lead the accounting team with effective and supportive leadership that fosters trust and productivity.
• Review year-end financial records and oversee tax preparation processes, including filing for taxes and 1099s.
• Supervise daily bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, bank reconciliations, and cash reports.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders such as bankers and tax professionals to communicate financial information effectively.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and organization of company data.
• Drive payroll efficiency and develop innovative approaches to optimize accounting workflows. Requirements
• A minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• In-depth understanding of financial data analysis and banking processes.
• Familiarity with national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting requirements.
• Proven expertise in managing payroll and streamlining accounting processes.
• Experience in real estate accounting, particularly in multifamily and single-family properties.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
• Certification such as CPA or CA is highly desirable.
• Advanced skills in financial reporting, internal control, and process improvement.
