Description
We are looking for a skilled and experienced accounting leader to join our client's team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The title is flexible based on experience, ranging from Accounting Manager to Director of Finance. This hybrid role is vital for maintaining robust internal controls, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and promoting operational efficiency within the organization. The candidate will oversee the Accounting Department, manage budgets and projections, conduct financial analyses, and supervise the institution’s investment portfolio. Banking experience is required.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage all daily accounting and financial operations while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Supervise and evaluate departmental staff, including assigning tasks, conducting performance reviews, and implementing training programs.
• Establish and maintain systems and procedures to ensure proper accounting controls and accurate financial records.
• Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory examiners to ensure compliance with accounting standards and laws.
• Prepare comprehensive financial reports that summarize the credit union’s financial position.
• Assist the Chief Financial Officer in developing and monitoring the organization’s annual budget.
• Conduct financial analyses and oversee cost accounting procedures to support strategic decision-making.
• Manage the organization’s investment portfolio to align with financial goals and risk management strategies.
• Utilize and maintain the credit union’s data processing systems, ensuring optimal functionality and accuracy.
• Support Asset Liability Management (ALM) and related reporting alongside the Chief Financial Officer.
Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting management or a similar role.
• Proficiency in full-cycle accounting and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of Credit Union/Banking regulations and accounting standards.
• Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and manage teams effectively.
• Ability to analyze complex financial reports and present findings to senior management.
• Familiarity with financial products, services, and industry-specific terminology.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and capable of exercising independent judgment in addressing challenges.
