Description
We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of our organization. Based in Sonoma County, California, this role involves ensuring efficient financial processes, maintaining compliance, and providing accurate reporting to support organizational growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, leadership skills, and a collaborative approach to driving financial excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, tax compliance, sales tax, and cash flow management.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, delivering accurate and timely reports to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, internal controls, and organizational policies.
• Manage financial operations across eCommerce platforms such as Shopify and Amazon, ensuring proper reconciliation and revenue recognition.
• Oversee inventory accounting processes to maintain accurate financial records.
• Handle sales tax nexus and reporting, utilizing tools like Avalara to ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
• Develop and implement accounting performance metrics and KPIs to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
• Drive automation and system upgrades to streamline processes and enhance scalability.
• Foster a collaborative team environment by promoting cross-training and ensuring role coverage within the accounting team.
• Mentor and lead the accounting team, fostering growth and process improvement.
Requirements • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management.
• Proficiency in GAAP accounting principles and practices.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and full-cycle payroll.
• Experience with cash flow management and month-end close processes.
• Familiarity with eCommerce platforms and tools such as QuickBooks Online and Avalara.
• Demonstrated ability to manage tax compliance, including sales tax and other regulatory requirements.
• Proven leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
