General Purpose:
Cobbs Creek Golf and Education Campus is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Club Controller to lead the financial operations of our newly revitalized historic public golf facility. The Controller is responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial statements, reports, forecasts, and analysis, while ensuring compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and reporting obligations. This individual plays a key role in supporting Cobbs Creek’s mission of operational excellence, transparency, and public impact.

Cobbs Creek is a storied public golf course in West Philadelphia, undergoing a major restoration to honor its rich history and serve as a hub for golf education, youth development, and community access. As part of the Cobbs Creek Foundation’s commitment to equity, excellence, and inclusion, this role contributes to shaping a financially sustainable and socially impactful operation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare timely and accurate monthly and year-end financial statements, reports, and forecasts, including audit and tax packages, in accordance with policy and in partnership with course and organizational leadership. Ensure full compliance with Cobbs Creek Foundation policies, city regulations, and applicable HOA guidelines (if applicable). Analyze and prepare detailed variance reports and recommend action plans. Prepare and post all journal entries for monthly close, year-end adjustments, and audit activities. Maintain detailed work papers for balance sheet reconciliations, revenue and expense analyses, and account activity. Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely, accurate payments and collections; report on cash flow and liquidity trends. Manage vendor invoicing, contracts, and budget tracking for capital and operational expenditures. Supervise monthly and annual bank reconciliations, credit card transaction reviews, and inventory accounting. Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger and chart of accounts. Partner with golf operations, retail, F&B, and administrative leaders to support department-level financial performance and reporting. Assist with preparation, coordination, and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets. Serve as a financial resource to the Executive Director, course management, and community stakeholders. Support grant reporting and donor tracking, when applicable to public-private funding partnerships.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in club, golf course, hospitality, or nonprofit accounting leadership. Experience in public or municipal recreation finance or with nonprofit foundations is a strong plus. HOA and/or public accounting experience preferred. Supervisory experience and a record of team leadership and development. Experience with Northstar, Jonas, or similar club/golf management software a plus.Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook. Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP). Excellent oral and written communication skills; capable of preparing and presenting financial materials clearly to non-financial audiences. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders. Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail. High level of professionalism and discretion; capable of handling confidential and sensitive information. Familiarity with online banking systems and third-party AP platforms is a plus.Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Frequently required to sit, use hands, and communicate verbally and in writing. Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 25 pounds. Typical office environment with moderate noise levels; some onsite presence at golf facility required.
Compensation
$70,000 - $80,000 based on experience.
