Controller
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in Valencia, California. This role focuses on overseeing financial statements preparation and analysis, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing various financial functions. The Controller will be part of a dynamic industry and will work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial documents, such as balance sheets, cash flow statements, and income statements. • Participate in creating financial forecasting models for profit and loss statements and balance sheets. • Ensure that all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and legislation. • Manage the processes of closing at the end of the month and year. • Take the lead in coordinating the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors. • Monitor financial performance, identifying any significant variances or trends. • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management in a timely manner. • Implement and maintain internal controls to protect the company's assets. • Oversee the functions of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reception, and payroll. • Monitor the company's annual budget, analyzing any variances, and provide insights to senior management. • Work closely with department heads to develop and keep track of departmental budgets. • Lead the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement. • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in financial management. • Responsible for forecasting, overseeing check runs, and monitoring cash flow. • Review and approve all invoices that do not have a purchase order. • Oversee the preparation and filing of various tax returns, payroll tax, W-2s, and 1099s. • Monitor the preparation of bank reconciliation and capital asset accounting. • Handle supervisory responsibilities according to our policies and applicable laws, including conducting interviews, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, issuing incentives and disciplinary action, and addressing and resolving problems. Requirements · Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in accounting or related field; with 7-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment. · Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. · Proficiency in preparing consolidated financial statements. · Experience in cost accounting and inventory management. · Exceptional leadership abilities with 7+ years of experience leading an accounting department. · Must be proficient in PP presentations both written and verbally. · Must be able to summarize results of Operations, B.S. and Cash flow in 25 words or less on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis with meaningful insight.
