Controller
Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to manage and oversee the accounting operations for our organization in Detroit, Michigan. This role involves ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining compliance with regulations, and enhancing internal controls. The ideal candidate will collaborate with leadership to drive process improvements and support strategic financial initiatives. Responsibilities: • Supervise all accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll entries, and cost accounting. • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to deliver timely and accurate financial statements compliant with US GAAP. • Prepare and evaluate internal and external financial reports to guide decision-making and monitor business performance. • Oversee cash flow planning, forecasting, and analysis to ensure operational needs are met. • Develop and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to uphold financial integrity. • Collaborate with department leaders to support annual budgeting processes and periodic financial forecasts. • Coordinate annual audits and tax filings while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting systems. • Act as the primary accounting resource for all organizational locations. • Foster a collaborative environment by effectively communicating across all levels of the organization. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience. • Comprehensive knowledge of full-cycle accounting in accordance with US GAAP. • Proficiency in forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management. • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. • Demonstrated integrity and commitment to financial accuracy and transparency. • Preferred qualifications include CPA certification and experience in manufacturing or distribution environments. • Familiarity with large-scale accounting systems, such as Microsoft Business Central, is a plus.
