The Control Room Operator is responsible for leadership in planning, organizing and directing all efforts to assure the WMS (Warehouse Management System), EMS (Equipment Management System), and associated equipment are always operational. This position is critical to eliminate down time, maximize efficiency, and ensure that the plant finished goods inventory is accurate. The Control Room Operator is responsible for having a thorough working knowledge of all distribution center equipment and systems used to support the business. Additional objectives include validations/certification of the system and inventory, identifying and implementing changes to the system, catching picking errors, assisting with training, and performing operation activity to help the team when necessary. The Control Room Operator must maintain compliance to all applicable GMP, safety, and quality guidelines. The control room operator will serve as the liaison between Division and all other plant areas to coordinate systems project upkeep and trouble shooting.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Create very accurate & legible documentation, performs data entry accurately, maintains all applicable systems with needed information, and safely and efficiently process pallets through the EMS system, including ensuring inventory is accurate when receiving product in to the WMS system (i.e. verifies the SKU, quantity, and lot number at each touch point)Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Certain errors could shut down the shipping function of the Distribution Center or in shipment of unreleased product. Keeping inventory valued at over $50MM accurate and ready for audit.Coordinates on time shipping of orders for approximately 55 truckloads per day at approximately $150,000 of value per load to assure that customer orders are met on time.Acts as the plant liaison for all communications on the Material Control systems. Retrieve and disseminate information as requested by the plant and division. Assist with completion of rework activity and pulling sample requests.Investigates and assists with the fix for computer system and radio frequency problems with the bar code readers.Verifies information between EMS and WMS match and where necessary troubleshoots and correct inventory discrepancies.Assists with validation/VCR (Validation Change Request) details to assure computer system is properly validated and remains validated with any changes made.The Control Room Operator is responsible for operational support during down time including loading, unloading, picking, and creating bills of lading (BOL’s).Complete training through Compliance Wire on time as defined by the Columbus plant training team.Cleans up finished goods warehouse areas to GMP standards and supports the master sanitation program of the department. This includes floor walks to specifically search for damaged product.Fix pallets that may be damaged or have fallen in the automated storage and retrieval system.Generate reports and when necessary utilize Access to write queries for projects and inventory needs.Helps prepare and assist with user training on the inventory systems.Supports the departments continuous improvement program, including root cause analysisMust have a working business knowledge of QA, inventory transactions, Logistics, and Material Control. Must have good analytical troubleshooting skills and prioritization skills.Assists with other Material Control projects as determined necessary by department management.Investigates and communicate software issues to Cambar Coordinator, Division MIS, plant MIS, and software vendors.Collaborates with maintenance to investigate and communicates physical damage and repairs to the EMS equipment.Some examples of the equipment and systems include but are not limited to the following: Operation of Power Industrial Equipment such as forklifts, Cranes, AGV’s, barcode scanners to manage inventory in the WMS (Cambar), BlueJay TMS (Transportation Management System), SAP, Security gates, cameras, ticket applicators, pallet invertors, and any other systems or equipment needed to meet the demands of the business. Contact is made with Division Logistics, Division Customer Services, Division and Plant MIS, Inventory Accounting, Plant Logistics, Cambar (the software supplier) and other areas as needed to administer system upkeep. Therefore, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.Accountable for personal safety and adhering to all applicable safety guidelines. Must communicate safety and GMP concerns to Columbus Distribution Center leadership & follow up to assure the concerns are addressed.Accountable for performing tasks that need completed in a timely manner or need expedited. Must check e-mail at the start of each shift when possible to assure all directives are addressed. Must communicate to all shifts as to status of the business.This position is accountable for complying with all applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA and Abbott Nutritional Supply Chain regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED requiredPrior job experience within warehousing operations (at least 6 months preferable).Requires in-depth knowledge of all receiving/warehouse operations, procedures, and requirements which usually are obtained through on-the-job training. Work sequence priorities may change with little notice.The individual must be self-motivated and possess the ability to perform with minimum supervision.Experience with tools and equipment related to the position is desired (hand tools, wearing of full body harness, sit-down forklift, stand up pick vehicle, computer knowledge/skills).This position requires excellent written/verbal communication skills, very good interpersonal skills, analytical troubleshooting skills, ability to multitask, and being a very good team player.Knowledge of finished goods inventory transactions and the WMS (Warehouse Management System). Must also have knowledge of material moves, adjustments, and how it affects inventory accuracy.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office ApplicationsMust be able to professionally deal with people under high pressure and in a constantly changing environment.Ability to make decisions based on awareness of the area operations is necessary. Must be able to lift and maneuver objects of considerable weight (50 lbs).PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The base pay for this position is $18.65 – $37.35 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
