Main responsibilities:
As a Contract Specialist/Paralegal– Commercial & Technology, you will be a member of the Albertsons’ TechCom/Contracting Center of Excellence team and will provide support to procurement and other business areas reviewing and providing guidance on a variety of complex commercial-, technology- and privacy/data-related contracts in support of Albertsons’ strategic initiatives.
You will have responsibility for managing assigned requests for legal review and support by reading, reviewing, analyzing, modifying and negotiating contracts (under supervision of their supervising attorney) for the benefit of their attorney partners and internal clients.
This role will be based in either Pleasanton, CA, OR Boise, ID with an in-office requirement for four days and one flex day of work.
Review, analyze and edit commercial, technology and data and privacy related contracts including SaaS agreements, software agreements, equipment agreements, data processing agreements, CPG-related agreements, procurement-related agreements, and other agreements as needed, all to adhere to Albertsons’ standards and policies. Prepare contract analyses and drafts for attorneys and support their negotiation work, as requested. Work closely with attorneys team to identify and escalate issues relating to contract deviations. Under attorney supervision, negotiate certain pre-approved agreement types, using Albertsons following Albertsons’ standards and policies. Collaborate with global legal and business teams across multiple time zones, including relevant Albertsons’ Strategic Sourcing teams. Assist in the work of the Contracting Center of Excellence by maintaining contracting procedures and processes, with an eye for continual improvements and efficiencies. Periodically assist with diverse high demand legal projects outside normal area of focus.We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
Prior in-house experience strongly preferred. Expertise with the use and management of a CLM – Ironclad previous experience preferred. Strong technical skills with the ability to turn and improve manual processes into an efficient digital experience. Experience creating visual workflows (vizio, lucid charts, or similar applications). At least 6 years of relevant legal and business experience. Ability to issue spot and understand the general principles of technology agreements, data privacy agreements and draft provisions that mitigate identified risks. The ability to take the lead on assigned projects, perform required research and draft memos to attorneys and executive level management. Use AI tools responsibly and in accordance with company policy. Ability to multi-task, managing multiple high-priority assignments. Ability to identify and analyze complex issues and evaluate their broader implications for the business; interact with clients at all levels; provide timely, practical, legal advice and business solutions; and communicate effectively in person and in writing. Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and take ownership of issues and matters to their successful conclusion.
