DESCRIPTION:
Join our collaborative team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Senior Contracts Specialist I, where you'll contribute to negotiating and managing complex agreements that drive our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You'll work cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, Finance, Operations, and Quality teams to negotiate and execute contracts that meet company policies while achieving business growth. Your expertise in government and commercial contracting will help expand our business across multiple divisions while ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
You'll review, draft, and negotiate various agreements ranging from federal contracts to master service agreements. You'll serve as a trusted advisor on contracting matters, develop negotiation strategies, assess risks, and build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by facilitating critical business partnerships while ensuring protection of company interests.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in contract negotiation, preferably in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or government contracting
• Preferred Fields of Study: Business Administration, Law, Life Sciences, or related field
• Professional certifications such as CPCM (Certified Professional Contracts Manager) or similar credentials beneficial
• In-depth knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR) and government contracting processes
• Experience with Federal Supply Schedules (FSS), GSA contracts, and ECAT contracts
• Strong understanding of contract law and risk management principles
• Excellent negotiation, facilitation, and consensus-building skills
• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management systems
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Experience with RFP responses and competitive bid processes
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrated ability to maintain principled positions while working under pressure
• Fluency in English required; additional language skills beneficial
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry or Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) preferred
