One of our major oil and gas clients is seeking a Contract Specialist to work on a 6-month assignment in their facilities in Sweeny, TX
Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Contract Specialist (Procurement Advisor) to support procurement operations at the Sweeny Refinery. This role will serve as a key partner to internal stakeholders, driving sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring contract compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment and enjoys working cross-functionally to deliver strategic value.
Key Accountabilities Partner with refinery stakeholders to support day-to-day procurement activities, including services sourcing and supplier management Lead and support sourcing events, including bid development, evaluation, and supplier selection Manage assigned contracts, including negotiating terms, renewals, and amendments Serve as a liaison between site stakeholders and central procurement/AES teams to ensure alignment and efficiency Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and governance standards Identify opportunities to drive cost savings, improve supplier performance, and mitigate risk Required and Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred 3+ years of procurement, sourcing, contracting, or supply chain experience Experience supporting contract negotiations and supplier management activities Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Experience with procurement systems such as SAP, Ariba, GEP, or similar platforms Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills Ability to operate independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment Strong Influence skills Preferred Experience: Experience supporting procurement within a refinery, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environment Familiarity with services-based procurement and contractor/vendor management Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive results #LI-AG3
