Job Title: Contract Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Contract Termination Specialist who will provide expert advice on terminations for convenience or default of contracts. The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly and efficiently assimilate and apply knowledge on all types of award mechanisms.
Responsibilities
Advise on terminations for convenience or default of contracts.Prepare all required documentation for award terminations, including termination notices, determinations and findings, negotiation memoranda, and settlement agreements.Interpret and apply applicable sections of the FAR and USAID supplemental regulations and policies.Process actions in USAID’s contracts and financial management system.Coordinate with the Office of General Counsel, technical teams, and implementing partners to manage the termination process.Assess financial, contractual, and programmatic implications of terminations and recommend risk mitigation strategies.Ensure post-termination actions, including audits, final payments, and closeouts, are completed in compliance with USAID policy.Develop guidance, templates, and training materials to strengthen USAID’s institutional approach to award terminations.Essential Skills
3 to 5 years of Federal Contracts experience.FAC-C Professional or CFCM certification.Ability to obtain a Public Trust.Bachelor’s degree in Business.Additional Skills & Qualifications
At least 5 years of experience in US government contract management with at least 1 year of experience terminating contracts and negotiating termination settlements.Capability to quickly assimilate new information and become proficient in topics for which there may not be prior knowledge, such as Government to Government, Title II, Interagency Awards, and Public International Organizations.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington D.C., DC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.86 - $43.26/hr.
