GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) is seeking aContract Religious Services Coordinator for our Wyoming Women's Center (WWC) in Lusk, WY, and the WY Honor Conservation Camp (WHCC) in Newcastle. Candidates may office in either location of Lusk or Newcastle.We are an American Correctional Association-certified department that offers job variety and challenges working with offenders and the community to make a positive difference and keep recidivism rates low. This position coordinates and facilitates religious practices for inmates in prison in compliance with State and Federal law and WDOC policies and procedures. The position is at will and may end at any time without notice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
+ Services include: planning, developing, coordinating, and supervising inmate religious activities;
+ Recruiting, training, and supervising religious volunteers;
+ Adhering to department policy in handling inmate religious requests regardless of inmate religious belief;
+ Manage religious property for inmates;
+ Managing the ordering and disposition of individual inmate religious property;
+ Oversight of inmate religious diet requests and inmate adherence to approved religious diets;
+ Oversight of the chapel area;
+ Emergency family notifications;
+ Coordinating with the other WDOC institutions to maintain departmental continuity with regard to inmate religious practices.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to individuals with a Bachelor's Degree in a human services field, theology, religious education, or closely related field; PLUS two years of professional-level experience.
Preference will also be given to those who have previously worked with female inmates and/or offenders.
KNOWLEDGE:
+ Knowledge of religious practices across a wide scope of religious affiliations
+ Knowledge of religious-based diet restrictions
+ Knowledge of religious celebrations and holidays
+ Knowledge of sacred items across a wide scope of religious affiliations
+ Skill in communication with people of diverse backgrounds
+ Ability to multitask
+ Ability to use a computer
+ Ability to research and understand religious practices, not already familiar with

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Lifting/grasping up to 20 pounds without assistance on an occasional to regular basis
+ Walking on cement floors on an occasional to regular basis
+ Walking up and down stairs on an occasional basis
+ Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching on an occasional basis
+ Reaching on a regular basis
+ Typing/Repetitive motion on a frequent basis
+ Talking/hearing on a frequent basis
+ Seeing: the visual ability to perform an activity such as analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading

+ This position is At-Will and may end at any time without notice. The successful applicant will be eligible for Health, Dental, and Life Insurance with a Single rate contribution premium to offset costs.
+ This position requires 5 weeks at the WDOC Training Academy paid for by WDOC.
