Contract Buyer
Job Title: Contract BuyerJob Description The Contract Buyer supports a CNC manufacturing environment that produces precision components for medical and electrical manufacturing applications. This role backfills a recent resignation and is critical to maintaining continuity within the supply chain team while the department works toward full staffing. The Buyer focuses on purchasing metal raw materials and components, managing purchase orders, and coordinating closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure uninterrupted production. Responsibilities + Create, process, and manage purchase orders for metal raw materials and purchased components. + Work directly with existing suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules. + Follow up on open orders to ensure on-time delivery and quickly resolve any supply issues. + Communicate proactively with internal teams regarding order status, shortages, and timeline changes. + Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data within the ERP system. + Support the supply chain leadership and collaborate closely with the Planner to align purchasing activities with production needs. + Assist with general supply chain activities as needed throughout the contract period. + Manage relationships with vendors to support reliable sourcing of metals and components. + Monitor inventory levels to help prevent production delays and material shortages. Essential Skills + 3–5+ years of Buyer or Purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. + Hands-on experience purchasing metals, including raw materials and/or metal components. + Experience supporting CNC or precision manufacturing environments strongly preferred. + Strong understanding of purchasing processes, including purchase order creation, approval, and tracking. + Proven ability to communicate effectively with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules. + Experience following up on open orders and resolving supply issues to support on-time delivery. + Ability to maintain accurate purchasing and inventory data within an ERP system. + Background in supply chain, procurement, or buyer purchasing functions. + Experience working with vendors, sourcing materials, and managing inventory levels. + Familiarity with ERP systems; experience with Epicor (epicore) or similar platforms is highly valuable. + No formal education requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working in a CNC or precision manufacturing environment supporting production teams. + Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple purchase orders and priorities simultaneously. + Attention to detail when entering and maintaining data in ERP and inventory systems. + Ability to collaborate effectively with planners and supply chain leadership to align purchasing with production schedules. + Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with evolving priorities. + Strong problem-solving skills to address supply disruptions and material constraints. Work Environment This position operates within a CNC manufacturing facility that produces precision components for medical and electrical applications. The Contract Buyer will be the only dedicated buyer on site and will work closely with a supply chain manager and a planner to support production needs. The role relies heavily on ERP systems, including platforms such as Epicor, to manage purchasing and inventory data. The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, requiring clear communication with internal teams and external suppliers to maintain uninterrupted material flow. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Pewaukee, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $35.00/hr.
