Contingent Speech Language Pathologist - Inpatient Rehab and Acute Care
Location: Trinity Health Oakland Hospital Pontiac, MI
Schedule: Weekend 8hr Shifts (Sat-Sun)
Rate: $50.51/hr
POSITION PURPOSE:
Evaluates patients, designs and provides treatment programs in accordance with the physician prescription and maintains proper documentation as required by the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform objective patient evaluations using proper techniques with accurate and valid results.
2. Retrieve and interpret pertinent information from the patient's medical record, seeking appropriate information from other resources for further clarification if necessary.
3. Identify age related differences within the persons served and will adjust treatment style and expectations as appropriate.
4. Additionally, make decisions on whatever treatment style alterations are necessary based upon the patient's cognitive function (i.e., ability to take responsibility for oneself).
5. Provide quality patient treatments.
6. Identify the need for assistive devices and alternative assessments.
7. Process patient billing as required by the department.
8. Maintain all necessary documentation as required by departmental policy.
9. Maintain compliance with reimbursement requirements and authorizations.
10. Must be able to meet productivity expectations as determined by management each fiscal year.
11. Initiate and encourage good communication and relationships with physicians and other healthcare personnel involved in the provision of patient care.
12. Participate in departmental programs related to student education, CFY supervision, Quality Assurance, community education, etc.
13. Build on existing skills and knowledge through continuing education.
14. Adhere to the code of ethics adopted by the department and the profession and to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
15. Participate actively in the daily operations of the department and contribute to its compliance with regulations and customer service expectations.
16. Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland through performing behaviors consistent with the Trinity Health Values.
17. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, the Trinity Health Organizational Integrity Program, including the Standards of Conduct, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors.
18. Supports and conducts one's self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.
19. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
20. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, associates, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
21. Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Trinity Health System.
22. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Education:
Graduate of an accredited institution with a Master's Degree in Speech & Language Pathology or substantial equivalent.
Current licensure within the State of Michigan to practice.
Certificate of Clinical Competency issued by the American Speech & Language Association or completion of Clinical Fellowship Year.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
